Place Trunk Measurement

tr_place_trunk_measurementPlace Trunk Measurement tool lets you place a circular trunk diameter element manually. The element placement requires the following preparation steps:

Compute distance from the ground to the trunk points.

Assign groups to separate individual trees or tree trunks. You may use Assign groups -commands or Create Point Group tool.

The tool stores tree group id and average height from ground value of matching point as attribute data of the measurement element.

To place a tree trunk measurement element by the trunk center:

1. Select Place Trunk Measurement tool.

This opens the Place Tree Cell dialog:

2. Select tree trunk class(es) and Method: Center and diameter.

The trunk element is previewed around the cursor.

3. Define the trunk diameter.

4. Place a data click to define the trunk center position in a top view.

The trunk element is created to the CAD file.

To place a tree trunk measurement element by three points:

1. Select Place Trunk Measurement tool.

This opens the Place Tree Cell dialog

2. Select tree trunk class(es) and Method: Three points.

3. Define the trunk diameter.

4. Place three data clicks in a top view to define the trunk position.

After the second data click, a preview of the trunk element is shown.
The third data click finished the trunk element and creates it to the CAD file.

Use class

Point class(es) that represent the trunk of a tree.

_select_classes

Opens the Select classes dialog which contains the list of active classes in TerraScan. You can select multiple source classes from the list that are then used in the Use class field.

Method

Method for element placement: Center and diameter or Three points.

Diameter

The trunk diameter. This is available only if Method is set to Center and diameter.

Tree trunk diameters elements can be placed in a more automatic way by using the Measure Trunk Diameters tool.
