File pulldown menu

The commands of the File pulldown menu are used to create, open, save, backup and close Spatix files and to close the Spatix application. Most of the commands work like the common functions of any Windows application.

Spatix files have the default extension .SPX.

New (default)

Create a new Spatix file with default settings.

 

Standard window for creating a file.

New (template)

Create a new Spatix file with settings from a seed file (another  .SPX file).

File/New

(+ seed file)

Open

Open a Spatix file or a MicroStation V7 file.

Select the file format to open in the window.

Standard window for opening a file.

File/Open

Save

Save changes to an exiting Spatix file. This includes changes to elements, element attributes and application data.

Save as

Save file as a new Spatix file.

File/Save as

Backup

Create a backup Spatix file. This does not close the original file.

 

Standard window for saving a file. By default, '_backup' is added to the original file name.

Close

Close the Spatix file. The Spatix application stays open.

Spatix asks whether to save the file or not, if there are unsaved changes.

 

File/Close

1. <file>.spx

2. <file>...

List of recently opened files. Click on the file name to open the file. This closes any other file that is currently open.

Exit

Close the Spatix application.
